Wilson was the second of the two architects who created St Martin’s. Richard Fletcher introduces this multi-talented but still under-appreciated artist. In the Church Hall with tea, 2.30pm -4pm.
Monday 6 May 2024
Another of our Bank Holiday excursions by mini-bus. Tideswell church, ‘the cathedral of the Peak’, is full of interest. We shall concentrate on the chancel, which was restored by architect J. D. Sedding soon after he had worked on St Martin’s. Cost and timings available in due course.

While Sedding was passionate about English traditional architecture, Wilson was tuned in to the latest developments on the international art and architecture scene, as explained by Anthony Burton. In the Church Hall with tea, 2.30pm -4pm.

Joint meeting with the Marple Local History Society. Several speakers explore how, as Marple grew, a number of churches were established (including St Martin’s) to serve the varied needs of Marple folk. In the Church Hall with tea, 2.30pm - 4pm.
